A digital workflow for custom-fit orthotics can improve the daily processes in orthopedic practices and make them more efficient. Not only for the orthopedists themselves, but it also benefits the administrative staff and the patients. TwikFit is Twikit’s software platform for custom-fit orthotics such as insoles and braces, enabling an easy, quick, and reliable digital creation process. The solution integrates with existing systems to elevate sales and manufacturing procedures.
Discover below how you can improve the operations in an orthopedic practice by introducing a digital workflow, such as with TwikFit.

Establish a seamless & collaborative workflow for all staff

By introducing a digital workflow into an orthopedic practice, the administration is streamlined and processes enhanced. The one platform necessary to run every operation, when web-based, is accessible from anywhere at any time. This means office administrators can register a new client onto the platform, and the orthopedist can view this information seconds later via their computer in the treatment space.

TwikFit facilitates more collaboration and a smooth workflow for everyone.

All information is stored onto one single platform, and everything is digitized. Because all data is digitally stored, previously made scans or insoles and braces can be retrieved later. For example, if a patient damages one of their insoles, the administration staff can order a new one in just a few clicks without re-molding or designing. It saves time and money for both the orthopedist and the patient because there is no need for an appointment.

A digital workflow for custom-fit 3D printed orthotics does not only assist the orthopedist in creating medical wearables more efficiently but also enables streamlined and quicker processes for office administration. It is an end-to-end solution that already starts at the patient intake.

On the other end of the flow, TwikFit smoothly connects with information systems already put in place such as MES. The connection to MES systems fuels the scaling to mass production of custom-fit products and ensures a seamless workflow from scan-to-fit-to-print. The TwikFit platform connects the dots in the value chain and enables a new and digital way of creating custom-fit medical wearables.

A digital workflow: easy, quick, and reliable

When patients are registered onto the online platform, the orthopedist executes the 3D scan and designs the custom-fit insole or brace. The 3D scan is taken quickly and uploaded onto the platform via the TwikFit Scanner app, which you can find in the app store. After this step, the expert can already start designing the orthotic according to the prescription. The scan-to-fit process is done within just 10 minutes.

3D scanning also secures reliability for the final product, making sure it fits perfectly and supports the patient in the right way every time. Conventional methods such as plastering are more prone to error and less predictable. The digital workflow enables orthopedists to deliver the best possible result and the best treatment for their patients by allowing a reliable process.

After uploading the 3D scan, the orthopedist is guided through the design steps by the user-friendly TwikFit interface. Every step is clearly described and visually indicated if applicable. After a few minutes, the expert has designed a high-quality custom-fit insole or brace that is ready for 3D printing. The production file is automatically sent to the right manufacturing facility and is sent through their MES system.

The TwikFit software solution integrated with MES systems allows for more accurate demand forecasts, enabling facilities to reduce inventories and avoid overproduction. It makes a physical stock obsolete and reduces the need for manual labor due to efficient logistics and stock management, reducing costs in the process.
